BIRD WATCHING VISITOR CENTRE

The project was a group work. The aim was to design a Bird-watching Visitor Centre on the Bull Island, Dublin that would facilitate school tours, families, professional and amateur bird watchers with the purpose to explore, understand and promote flora and fauna on the Island. The primary task for us was to create the Visitor Centre that would integrate with the landscape and nature and would look contemporary and organic. We picked natural materials – timber and glass, and used natural colours – sandy beige and brown. Also, it was important to provide different viewing areas such as platforms, balconies and bird watching towers. To increase functionality and interest we provided a cafe on the Ground floor and a library with a reading area on the First floor.
