WAHACA RESTAURANT

The brief for this project was to design a restaurant for Mexican street-food chain Wahaca. The design was inspired by Pre-columbian Mexico, Aztec masks and jungles. The aim was to create very colourful, exotic and warm jungle-like atmosphere with the use of greenery, red brick and timber, cork and bamboo. Cork panels with their great sound insulation properties and aesthetic look were used for wall cladding. Some walls had exposed red brick appearance. The bar counter and the benches very tiles with bright colour tiles in Mexican motifs. Generous amount of green plants created the colour contrast with red bricks and cork, and created the jungle atmosphere.
